Corrie Tan makes sense of art through intimate writing. She is a researcher, critic, dramaturg and facilitator from Singapore working at the intersection of care ethics, collaborative performance practices and new articulations of arts criticism in Southeast Asia. An arts critic for almost 15 years, she has written regularly about performance and culture for platforms such as The Guardian, ArtsEquator and The Straits Times, and is currently arts editor of the independent digital magazine Jom. Corrie is a wayfarer between academia and journalism, and holds a Ph.D. in Theatre and Performance Studies jointly awarded by King’s College London and the National University of Singapore. She is also the director of the Asian Dramaturgs’ Network. Corrie is usually invited into projects where she can be a critical companion, resource sharer and co-thinker—and can offer up rich textual accompaniment to an artistic process or product. Through her creative projects and collaborations with groups such as Centre 42, Drama Box and P7:1SMA, she considers the ways in which contemporary archipelagic thinking might offer us new configurations of relationality and identity formation with one another.
