Henrik is a “theatre generalist” from New York City based in Singapore. Their theatre career started during their undergraduate studies. After finding joy in stage and production management, for nearly six years, they cultivated effective communication while translating creative ideas of directors to pragmatic designers. Then Henrik turned to directing, honing further their focus and creative ideas while being receptive to the creative input from actors, designers, and technicians. In 2012, looking to shift their own views about theatre, they attended La MaMa’s Director’s Symposium (Umbria, Italy). Shortly afterwards, they directed two site-specific pieces, one piece was part of the New Orleans Fringe 2013, then travelled to Singapore to attend courses at the Intercultural Theatre Institute.
In Singapore, Henrik has been a facilitator for Speak Cryptic’s The Tribe at SIFA O.P.E.N. 2016. A devisor and performer for Attempts: Singapore M1 Fringe 2018, The Silence Bubble is a project tackling the stigmas surrounding mental health issues/conditions. In 2021, Henrik directed a piece for Long Distance Affair, an international theatre performance over zoom and was a devisor and performer for part/wh with The Substation.
Henrik’s personal works gravitate towards providing hope, with an aim to heal or encourage positive and proactive change.
