A Theatre Studies and Communications major in NUS, Yi Xuan’s theatre journey first began when she watched The Phantom of the Opera at MBS in 2019. Enraptured by the powerfully emotive performances, she decided to study Theatre Studies and Drama at Victoria Junior College as one of her H2 ‘A’ Level subjects. Under the curriculum, she delved into set design as her Individual Skill, designing and creating a maquette for her final presentation. Valuing the experiences that cemented her love for the medium, she returns to the school every year to give back by mentoring her juniors. Currently, she supports the theatre productions held by Tembusu College through backstage work, and hopes to try out directing or producing in the future. Yi Xuan firmly believes in theatre as an empowering tool for change and is eager to learn more about the various capacities theatre can operate in. Outside of theatre, you can find her playing frisbee with friends or walking her dog at the park.
