Amitha is a playwright, performer, and educator. She enjoys storytelling that is firmly set in a local context but is also interested in stories from the past and across the world as she seeks to find points of connection and universality in a range of different narratives. Her most recent play, Like a Whisper, was devised and presented as part of TNS Devising with Actors and Playwrights. She also wrote Thaai (Mother) (TNS Playwright’s Cove) and Audition (A Mirage). Her past performances include Re: Almost Left Behind (Thespis), Flower Nymphs (Cake Theatre) and On Display (Short + Sweet). She is also a founding member of Playwrights Commune, a writers’ group and collective that seeks to build a community for young playwrights in Singapore.
