Hidayat Nordin, 35, is a producer, writer, director and arts activist. He has been highly active in performing arts, literature and media works since his schooling days. Hidayat has been actively involved in productions and numerous cultural events as a writer and director as well as a performer. He has also founded several performing arts groups. He is an active educator of the arts and media to several schools as a freelancer, from primary to tertiary schools. He is also an active playwright, director youth theatre collective, ARAS Theatre, and has won several awards in both theatre and literature categories, notably, The Best Director award in an open category during Sayembara Teater 2017 and also the 1st place in the Open Category during Singapore Poetry Festival, 2018.
Hidayat has created over 30 original works inclusive of songs and soundtracks. Over the years he has been invited to judge several prestigious poetry and performing arts competitions. He has also staged a couple of plays in Malaysia; 1:4 with Revolution Stage at Damansara Performing Arts Centre and Sidang Alifah during Freedom Festival. Some of his recent works include a short film, Ramalan, Rumah Sewa commissioned by the National Arts Council; a pre-recorded stage production, Happy Ending, which was produced in conjunction with Peatix Live Festival.
