Girl in the White Sand Box (2012)

29 October 2012 – 2 November 2012 @ Studio Theatre, School of the Arts

Synopsis

A little girl is digging a hole in the ground, waiting to bury her head in it when the hole is deep enough.

This Theatre-In-Education (TIE) performance combines entertainment (performance) and education (interactive activities) to investigate the phenomenon of adolescent depression.

The stress of modern life and societal pressures are challenging for our youth, who are still finding their path in life and developing their sense of identity. Through this programme, we hope to empower students to take positive steps when they feel overwhelmed with problems and to make a positive difference by helping their peers who share their predicament.

Students will also be stimulated through interactive pre/post-show activities and dialogues to develop their capabilities for self-reflection and critical thinking in Mandarin. This play marks the continued efforts by NeNeMas (Drama Box' education arm) to bring quality Mandarin plays to students in a theatre setting.
