The Necessary Stage presents SCENES OF PRIDE.
This Pride Month, we stand in solidarity with our LGBTQ family, friends and allies. We hope the following excerpts will light up your screens and hearts with love.
Reprising their roles from the original stagings are Kumar, Serena Ho, Hossan Leong and Rody Vera, joined by Joshua Lim, who have come together to read scenes of landmark LGBTQ plays by The Necessary Stage!
Scenes from Mardi Gras (2003/2004) and Top or Bottom (2005)
Faith and Clement (performed by Hossan Leong and Rody Vera)
Scenes from ABUSE SUXXX!!! (2001)
Tara and Latchmi (performed by Serena Ho and Kumar)
Jacob (performed by Joshua Lim)
We would also like to take this opportunity to recognise and acknowledge that the first Pride was a riot, born as a response to injustice and violence. We stand with Black Lives Matter and hope you will join us to denounce discrimination, oppression and systemic violence in any form, wherever you are in the world.
Together, we can be better.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”―Martin Luther King Jr.
