Reconceptualizing, reconsidering and ultimately rediscovering ideas of beauty. Beauty here is determined not by aesthetics, but by intention and manipulation – garments are signs and representations of the manipulation by consumers, who are in turn manipulated by trends. What do the garments that we choose to wear say about the lives we live and how we perceive beauty?
In the three vignettes of fashion scenarios, objects (and/or humans) are inspired by puppetry. These editorial moments are presented in familiar fashion settings – a photoshoot, a catwalk and the atelier. Through the playout of these scenarios, this work explores the idea of beauty and questions if the unconventional can be beautiful at the same time; or perhaps not.
