Macbeth is a story about a soldier who rises to become king as prophesied by three witches. A tale of fate and ambition, Macbeth soon finds himself driven by power and will not stop at anything to protect his throne. What else would he do to control his own fate?
McBeat and the Lil’ Shake Crew is an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth told through rap. It not only offers a contemporary spin to the classic, but an engaging energetic performance that will inspire students to be interested in classical works of literature. Utilising rap as a powerful storytelling medium, this adaptation places Macbeth in a contemporary setting that is relatable and accessible.
There will also be interactive elements so that students can explore plot, characters and key literary devices together with the facilitators. These activities will give students a chance to interact with the creators and learn more about the inspiration behind adapting Shakespeare.
