The Haque Collective (THC) is the alumni theatre company of Haque Centre of Acting & Creativity (HCAC), Singapore’s first professional acting school for everyone.
THC’s members comprise the staff and students of HCAC and responds to the richness, diversity, and complexity of Singapore. THC produces and presents original, provocative, culturally diverse work for the stage and screen. Because of its relative youth, Singapore’s existing theatrical landscape is small and cannot yet provide the variance of roles reflective of the broad cosmopolitan population found here. Unfortunately, many wonderful and dedicated performers who come through HCAC are not afforded the opportunities they deserve simply because of their background, experience, vague ethnicity, appearance, or because they lead dual lives straddling the corporate and creative worlds. As such, THC seeks to provide roles for these ‘creative double-lifers’.
THC is led by the Artistic Director and founder of HCAC, Kamil Haque, a Singaporean of multi-ethnic heritage. He has spent over 30 years in the performing arts, producing, directing and acting in several award-winning and critically-acclaimed productions in Singapore, USA, Malaysia and Australia.
