Six years ago, Centre 42 ended 2019 with a bang by presenting the well-received lecture-performance Desert Blooms, which traced the history of queer Singaporean theatre from 1985 to 1995. This December, playwright Ng Yi-sheng reunites with director Tan Shou Chen to present Mundur Singapura, which follows on the heels of Desert Blooms to delve into yet another era of queer theatre on the local stage. Covering the years between 1996 to 2007, Mundur Singapura will take audiences through a whole new platter of plays, written and presented against a backdrop of political transition, loosening restrictions, parliamentary debates on Section 377A, and the first Pink Dot.
